A rare evolution – closely related to the Jacky Ickx, but with its own layout and identity.

The Momo Gilles Villeneuve steering wheel sits on one of Momo’s most widely used platforms.
It has been shared across several OEM and performance applications – including Volvo sport wheels, Ferrari Dino variants and the closely related Jacky Ickx design.
Within the Signature Series, it stands out through three key changes:
a dedicated horn pad,
a fully leather-free center spoke,
and finger grips extending across the entire rim.
These details separate it clearly from its technical siblings.

Unlike most Signature Series wheels, the Villeneuve was also offered in two diameters: 320 mm and 350 mm. The smaller version is significantly rarer and typically associated with competition-focused setups.
The horn pad was designed specifically for this model and is often missing today, as many wheels were used without it in period. This alone has a major impact on current collector availability.
The wheel was delivered with the Momo helmet horn button in later production versions (no chrome ring).
Signature horn buttons existed in different color combinations, typically black or yellow with contrasting signature print.

Gilles Villeneuve started racing in the late 1960s, moving from snowmobiles and Formula Atlantic into Formula 1 after impressing McLaren in 1977.
He joined Ferrari shortly after and quickly became one of the most exciting drivers of his era, known for raw speed and aggressive control. In 1979 he finished runner-up in the World Championship.
His Formula 1 career lasted only six full seasons, ending with six Grand Prix victories and a legacy defined more by driving style than statistics.
The Gilles Villeneuve sits at the intersection of shared Momo architecture and Signature identity. It is technically close to the Jacky Ickx, but visually and functionally redefined through grip layout and horn pad design.
Its rarity today is driven less by production volume and more by configuration loss — especially missing horn pads and the scarcity of the 320 mm version.
