Petri Hub Adapters for BMW

Some parts are harder to find than the wheel itself.
This is one of them.

The Problem with Petri Hubs, Petri steering wheels were never meant to be modular.

They were sold as complete sets:

  • Steering Wheel
  • Hub Adapter
  • Horn Button

Not separately. Which means today: Finding a Petri Hub Adapter is often harder than finding the wheel.

Different Hub Variants

It gets more complicated.

There isn’t just one Petri hub.

BMW E10 (2002)

  • shortest version
  • approx. 87mm cover length
  • 3 ribs

BMW E9 (CS / CSi)

  • medium length
  • approx. 93mm cover length
  • 4 ribs

BMW E10 (2002)

  • longest version
  • approx. 102mm cover length
  • 4 ribs

Horn Contact Differences

Even if the spline fits, the horn system doesn’t always match.

  • E10 uses a spring-loaded plunger
  • E9 uses the reverse setup

Meaning: Not every hub works out of the box across models.

The Reality Today

If you find:

  • a Petri wheel without a hub
  • or a mismatched setup

You have three options:

  1. Wait (possibly forever)
  2. Modify parts (not recommended)
  3. Use a modern solution

A Different Approach

Instead of chasing rare original hubs: Use a widely available Momo hub.

And adapt the wheel — not the other way around.

The Solution

The Petri to Momo hub adapter was designed exactly for this.

  • keeps the steering wheel untouched
  • ensures proper fitment
  • works across platforms

Final Thought

Original hubs are part of the story.
But they shouldn’t stop you from using the wheel.
